The best part of building a new home is that you get to design the home any way you like. You get to put your own personal stamp on it. You get the opportunity to design it for you and your family and how you live in your home.

Today, we will look at new home designs with flexible living in mind. Surveys show that we will be staying in our homes longer. So with that thought, you will need to think about how your life may change in the near future.

Here are a few design ideas that you should consider when planning on building that new home.

  1. A Front Study: A study located in the front of a home with a built in book shelf can be convert in a bedroom if one of your love ones need additional care.
  2. Add an extra Walk in closet: Looking for a convenient place for the treadmill or elliptical trainer? Consider converting one of the closets in the owner’s suite into your own private workout space. And when you’re finished, you’re just steps away from the shower.
  3. Finished Lower Level: Make sure you add a escape window in your lower level so you can finish it when you need a kid’s study room, game room, .craft area. or a home theater. Maybe you will need a home office or additional bedrooms.

Good planning leads to good execution. That is why when you start to plan to build that next new home, you need to plan for the future.
